Donna

Donna Stacy is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Women's Programs at Indy Gun Safety. She is also a certified NRA Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer.

In 2006, as a single mother and real estate agent, Donna began to consider her options for personal protection at home and on the job. Being small statured she knew she would be no match for an armed attacker no matter how aware she was of her surroundings. Donna said: "I was showing houses in all kinds of neighborhoods by myself, and ran into some rather 'interesting' people on a regular basis." Donna considered her options for self defense and decided to learn more about using a handgun to see if it was a good personal choice for her.

In 2007 Ms. Stacy completed the NRA Basic Pistol Course at Indy Gun Safety and purchased her first handgun, a smaller caliber .380 Sig Saur semi automatic pistol. She felt the larger caliber guns were just too much for her. She obtained her lifetime Indiana License to Carry a Handgun and began to carry every day, everywhere she could legally do so.

Donna's fear of the lager caliber handguns didn't last long. In less than a year not only had she purchased a larger .40 caliber Springfield XD, she began to compete in IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) with it! "It just took a little practice and I soon learned I could control and enjoy shooting the defense caliber guns." Donna also completed Indy Gun Safety's Defensive Pistol Course where she learned to draw her handgun from a concealed holster, purse draws, shooting on the move, tactical reloading, malfunction clearing, and engaging bad guys mixed in with good guys.

Donna has become proficient with a wide variety of handguns including the 1911 .45, Kahr 9mm, Smith & Wessson .357 Magnum revolver, H & K USP .40, and Kel Tec P3AT & PF-9 just to name a few. This is a remarkable feat considering she is left handed. Donna has adapted well to the "right handed" world of firearms, and provides valuable insight to students who are left handed.

Ms. Stacy has also sought rifle experience and has trained with the AK-47, AR-15, M-1 Garand, SKS, and .30 caliber carbine.

Donna is a member of the National Rifle Association and Atlanta Conservastion Club. She is also a member, competitor, and certified Range Safety Officer in the International Defensive Pistol Association. (IDPA)

Donna is a full time student at Ivy Tech seeking a degree in the Paralegal program. She is employed at a law firm in Carmel. Ms. Stacy teaches part time at Indy Gun Safety and can also be found working in the gun shop on the retail side doing sales and transfers.
