Our course includes:

An 8 hour course of instruction.

-- At least 6 hours of classroom instruction.
-- At least 2 hours on the firing range with certified instruction in live firing.

Participants learn to name, explain and demonstrate the rules for safe handling of a handgun and proper storage practices for handguns and ammunition.

Demonstrate and explain how to handle ammunition in a safe manner.

Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ATTITUDE necessary to shoot a handgun in a safe manner.

Our students are very well rounded when they complete our course because of the variety of handguns we provide. No other school in the Indy metro area provides this extensive, hands on experience.

Indy Gun Safety also uses the S.I.R.T. LASER pistol in the classroom. This model handgun shoots a laser beam that shows where the student would have hit the target if they were using real ammunition. This state-of-the-art technology lets the instructor and student see exactly what they are doing right, and where correction is needed in the shooting fundamentals BEFORE using real ammunition. Indy Gun Safety is the only school in the Indy metro area to use this technology!

The shooting portion of the course (2 hours) is done at Atlanta Conservation club. Atlanta is an outdoor range. (You will not find an indoor NRA course in the Indy metro area!) So plan to be outdoors for 2 of the 8 hours of your class. Dress in layers if it's cold, and consider sun screen and bug spray in the warmer months! We train year-round. There is no bad weather, just bad clothing! In continuous rain or snow we may reschedule the shooting portion of the course.
